Adventure: Mountain Biking Gear

Mountain biking is an exciting sport that promises to get your adrenaline pumping and your heart racing as you twist around the trail and experience the beauty of nature. But as with most sports, proper equipment is required to ensure the maximum amount of safety and enjoyment for the journey.
The most important piece of equipment that you need is, obviously, the mountain bike. Purchasing the right mountain bike for you, though, can be a bit difficult. It should be a dedicated mountain bike, not a hybrid. You should be able to reach the handlebars while bending forward without feeling cramped, and the handlebars should be positioned slightly below the seat to create better balance. Experts at the bike shop should be able to help you choose the correct mountain bike.
Of utmost importance is a helmet, since you should always use a helmet every time you use your mountain bike. Not using a helmet is dangerous, usually against the rules of most parks, and very unwise. Make sure that the helmet that you purchase fits correctly as to not make it uncomfortable and a burden to wear.
You should always have plenty of water with you to avoid dehydration. At least two bottles of water is recommended, since your body will lose a lot of water along the trip. Proper hydration is important as to not risk the dangerous side effects that accompany the combination of dehydration and excess physical activity. Appropriate clothing is also necessary. Make sure you are aware of the kind of weather on the trail, which is most likely going to be different than where you live. Consult local experts if necessary to ensure that you are not caught in the elements without proper clothing.
The aforementioned equipment is absolutely necessary, but there are several pieces of equipment that are highly recommended. Compact air pumps for your bike’s wheels are important. Gloves, padded biking shorts, and mountain biking shoes prevent annoying chaffing and blisters that may appear otherwise. A toolkit containing everything you would need to repair your bike is a good idea. Sunglasses are nice if you are riding in a sunny area. Finally, a first aid kit is important should you get hurt along the trail.
